A candle snuffer or douter is an instrument used to extinguish burning candles. The term ‘candle snuffer’ or ‘snuffer’ is also sometimes used to describe what was formerly known as an extinguisher (having a small cone at the end of a handle). The use of a snuffer helps to avoid problems associated with blowing hot wax everywhere. Extinguishers are still commonly used in homes and churches.
“Don’t blow it out,
Snuff it out”.
